This whimsical owl painting is called The Wisdom of Letting Go.

Recently I was walking through the heath and woodland near me and the colours were just astonishing. Mostly the golden yellow of autumn birch leaves against silvery white bark.

As I walked, I imagined a tall wise owl spirit guide watching over the land and protecting it.

As soon as I arrived home, the paints and inks came out and I captured the colours and the image of the owl on canvas.

Later that day, I saw the most vivid red leaves and decided to add these as if falling from a tree nearby and caressed by the breeze.

Leaves falling at this time of year remind me of the importance of letting go even when it is counter intuitive and all I want is to cling on.

And so this is what the painting is all about – letting go of what is not serving you, letting go of what is not serving others.

This painting would make a beautiful addition to a gallery wall as a visual affirmation reminding you its inspiring wisdom.
