This magical owl painting is for those who seek beauty and crave colour, creativity and connection. She is part of my Owls of Healing and Love Collection – a series that invites you to reflect on your relationships, your memories, and what truly matters.

Wish You Were Here holds her own special story and cherished memories. She shines with femininity – a femininity that is fuelled by the moon and stands strong and sovereign. So much of my mum’s gentle, romantic and naive views of the world were squashed from her far too early. But I still saw hints of this in treasures she collected and surrounded herself with.

I started by layering collage papers that represented my mum’s love of home making, flowers and reading. Then I used layers of soft greens, teals and pinks acrylics to enhance the sentimentality of this piece.

The collage papers gave a patchwork vibe which was a beautiful reminder that we are all made up of different parts. Some of the joining edges have been highlighted with gold paint like the art of Kintsugi does with broken pottery.

The magical owl holds a golden alium – a flower my mum loved to grow in her garden. But It also looks like a dandelion in full seed and full of wishes.

Her crown and the moon have been created from collage paper I made a long time ago when I was in the depths of my grief. The energy is now one of hope, cherished memories and of course sovereignty.

This magical owl art would bring a radiant, uplifting energy to any space – beautiful as part of a gallery wall or as a bold stand-alone piece that catches the eye and warms the room.
