This warm, soulful owl art print is called The Art of Letting Go. The original painting is part of a series of 4 paintings exploring the mother archetype. The 4 aspects explored in this series are creation, nurture, inspiration and letting go.

Inspired by the most difficult aspects of the mother archetype, this beautiful owl painting evokes the emotions of letting go.

The mother owl is letting her owlet go. It is an act of vulnerability and courage. She stands on a cloud- like base suggesting that she is not entirely stable.  But although letting go is a challenge, she knows it’s a necessary part of being a mother. A mother to herself as well as her owlet.

This vibrant owl print started off as an abstract blend of inks on canvas.  I wanted to capture the essence of letting go – how it is like a long exhale after holding your breath for a long time.

The owlet is also feeling vulnerable as her mother is allowing her to explore the world with the love and guidance she has had stored in her tender heart.

The background has an outer space/cosmos feel to it which symbolises the abundance both owls are to experience as a result of this act of love – letting go. It also represents the space in which both can grow within.

Bubbles of light, love and air float around them to enhance the feeling of this space.

Two collage hearts are added to show that the space between them is fuelled by love.
