This rich and colourful owl print – The Spirit of Wild Inspiration – is a limited edition. The original painting is part of a series of 4 paintings exploring the mother archetype. The 4 aspects explored in this series are creation, nurture, inspiration and letting go.

Inspired by one of the Mayan mother archetypes – The Rainbow Mother – this vibrant owl painting is rich in spiritual symbolism.

This owl is most definitely Rainbow Mother. Rather than nurture her family and home, she inspires her loved ones with her by her free spirit and wild creativity.

This colourful owl print started off as a wild jungle of green on canvas that I painted with acrylics and inks, without a paintbrush in sight. The mother owl now swings from a rainbow as if she is zip wiring above the forest canopy.

Rainbows in mythology are the link between Earth and spiritual realm conecting rainbow mother to her truths and needs. Her need to lose herself in paint, splashing in puddles or the sea, word magic or connecting and communing with animals, angels,  flowers and fairies.

Behind the mother is the mother tree in the forest. The mother tree in a forest can be connected to hundreds of other trees. They communicate and enhance the growth of many seedlings around them.

Leaves, seeds and and bubbles of light float through the air as Rainbow Owl appears. Two stylised tulips – one pink, one red grow below as if marvelling at the wonder of the woman above them.
