Life can pull us in a hundred different directions – family, work, creativity, relationships, self-care. It’s easy to end up lopsided, giving too much of ourselves in one area while neglecting another. For the Wild Woman – that instinctive, creative part of us that craves freedom and wholeness – balance isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity.
Not long ago, I caught myself rushing from one thing to the next – juggling my business, family, and my art – and still feeling like I wasn’t doing “enough.” My spark was dimming. I was tired, distracted, and creatively flat.
That’s when I realised: I was out of balance.
The Wild Woman within me – that part who is intuitive, free, and full of life – was calling for something different. And the compass that guided me back was the four elements: earth, fire, water, and air.
The Power of the Four Elements
Earth – Remembering to Ground
At the time, I’d been spending hours indoors, always in my head. I needed earth: a walk in nature, bare feet on the grass, cooking a simple nourishing meal. These small rituals reminded me to slow down and root into the present moment.
🔥 Fire – Reigniting My Spark
I also noticed my creative fire had dwindled. I was “doing” a lot but not feeding my passions. Fire asked me to pick up my paints just for fun, to dance in the kitchen, to say yes to something that scared me a little. It didn’t take long before I felt that spark reignite.
💧 Water – Allowing Flow
But balance isn’t all about doing. Water invited me to rest, to feel, and to let go. Some days that meant journaling through my emotions; other days it was simply giving myself permission to nap without guilt. Water reminded me that rest is not weakness – it’s wisdom.
🌬️ Air – Finding Space to Breathe
Finally, I called in air. I needed perspective. A deep breath. A conversation with a friend who helped me see the bigger picture. Even sitting by an open window with fresh air flowing through was enough to shift my energy.
The Wild Woman in Balance
What I learned is that the Wild Woman thrives when all four elements are alive within us. Earth keeps us grounded, fire lights us up, water nourishes us, and air lifts our spirit. Neglect one, and we feel it. Honour them all, and life flows with more ease and joy.
This is the wisdom I wanted to capture in my Elemental Owl limited edition prints. Each owl embodies one of the elements — a reminder that balance is not about being perfect, but about listening to what we need in the moment.
